"In the year 2000, we purchased Hacienda Los Mortiños with the idea of building a mountain hotel at the base of the Cotopaxi volcano, offering a spectacular view of 11 mountains along the Avenue of the Volcanoes.
The name Hacienda is due to the abundance of Mortiño plants, a wild fruit from the blueberry family.

Chagra Andino
Hotel Hacienda Los Mortiños is located in the Pedregal area, the homeland of the iconic Chagra Andino.
The 'Chagra' is the indigenous cowboy who works the land and cares for the livestock, specifically in Ecuador. In the small village of Pedregal, at an altitude of 3,620 meters, being a Chagra is much more than that. It is a recognition of courage and effort in the mountains.
